Services

Neurology Consultation

Each patient will receive a comprehensive neurologic examination, which includes a thorough review of previous medical records and patient history. Appropriate diagnostic tests are recommended based on this information to obtain a diagnosis and treatment plan.

MRI

LVNS has an onsite MRI within our facility allowing immediate and accurate diagnosis of neurologic conditions.

Medical Neurology

We have the expertise and experience to manage many chronic neurologic conditions such as idiopathic epilepsy, meningoencephalitis of unknown etiology, and palliative care of non-surgical conditions.

Neurosurgery

LVNS provides neurosurgical treatment of many common neurologic conditions, especially intervertebral disc disease, among many other surgical procedures.

In-House Diagnostics & Imaging

LVNS provides immediate evaluation of neurologic conditions, offering same day and outpatient care in non-surgical patients by having in-house laboratory, radiography, and MRI.

Dr. Courtenay Freeman

DVM, DACVIM (Neurology), MRCVS
Dr. Courtenay Freeman, originally from Columbia, South Carolina, completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia. She remained at UGA for an additional five years for a one-year medical and surgical rotating internship, a one-year neurology/neurosurgery specialty internship, and a three-year neurology/neurosurgery residency.  She became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialty of Neurology in 2012.

After practicing in private practice in the USA, Dr. Freeman spent 2 years at the Animal Health Trust as a Senior clinician, where she trained residents and continued research and publications. After her time in England, she returned "home." She has authored and co-authored journal articles and book chapters and spoken locally and nationally.

Dr. Freeman loves all aspects of veterinary neurology/neurosurgery; however, she is particularly passionate about neurosurgery, patient care, and case management. She has been in Mount Pleasant since 2015 and enjoys being part of the local community. She understands the important connection with local veterinarians and strives to maintain a partnership to ensure excellent patient care and customer satisfaction.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Bill, and daughter Penelope ("Pip").
